Dr. Sarah Hannon OTD, OTR/L - Sarah Hannon graduated in 2019 with her bachelor's degree in exercise science. She recently just graduated in 2023 with her doctorate in occupational therapy. She is currently a float OT for Preferred Therapy Solutions in the long term, short term, and memory care settings. She also works in per diem home health for Elara Caring and Atrinity. She also has experience working with individuals being seen for outpatient needs involving vision and hand therapy. As part of her final doctoral capstone project, Sarah has been working with Leslie Prescott at the Lions Low Vision program at Griffin Hospital. Sarah has conducted 14 weeks of research by assessing clients with a visual impairment. Using this research and everything she has learned working with Leslie and Michele, Sarah has designed InvolV CT.
Dr. Michele Tarantino OTD, OTR/L, MPH CLVT CBIS - Professor Tarantino acted as doctoral capstone site mentor for Sarah Hannon. Michele Tarantino has been an Occupational Therapist for 29 years. She is the academic fieldwork coordinator and assistant clinical professor in the occupational therapy department. Professor Tarantino is a low vision specialist and has completed the low vision certification program at Salus University and is certified through the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals.
Dr. Leslie Prescott OTD, OTR/L, SCLV - Doctoral Capstone site mentor for Sarah Hannon. Oversaw and educated Sarah Hannon in low vision occupational therapy at Griffin Hospital. Leslie is an occupational therapist at Griffin Hospital with extensive clinical experience working with inpatient hospital acute care, outpatient hospital rehabilitation and outpatient low vision rehabilitation. She has been practicing occupational therapy since 2006. Prescott received a Graduate Certificate in Low Vision Rehabilitation and a Clinical Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2018/2021. Leslie earned an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Specialty Certification in Low Vision (SCLV) and specializes in low vision rehabilitation at Griffin Hospital Lions Low Vision Program.
As a committee member for an upcoming association called "Vision Rehabilitation Occupational Therapy Association"(working group), Leslie is the Research Committee's leader for this upcoming organization. Leslie facilitates monthly zoom meeting with the research committee members creating needs assessment survey and data analysis to develop recommendation to the general committee members at quarterly meeting. The mission of the association is to create standards to ensure people with vision loss receive service excellence. For more information click here.
